In the last few weeks my photography which I do just for fun has taken a bit of a dramatic and sad twist. Whenever I photograph models I always pay them the rate that we negotiate and they sign a model release which states that I can use the images however I like. From a legal perspective I believe that I am covered and generally all parties are happy. I have a website where I show my images but where I charge a small fee to allow access to larger and typically more nude images for 12 months.
Recently one of the models I had photographed asked me to remove the images from my site as someone had matched her nude images from my site with her personal Facebook account and was trying to blackmail her by threatening to send her nude images to all her friends and family (I assume that they did not know that she did nude modelling). As I said earlier, I don't believe that I have done anything wrong and I did remove her images but I have to say that it did leave me with a sad/bitter feeling that something I do for fun had caused someone so much anguish. At the moment I think I will run my website down although it will take 12 months to let the subscriptions expire. I will continue to post a few non nude images on deviant art while I decide what I want to do with my photography.
